Study: ADHD May Hike Risk of Later Parkinson’s, Other Disorders

Emerging research suggests attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder patients may have an increased risk of developing Parkinson’s and Parkinson-like diseases than those with no ADHD history.

University of Utah researchers said the long-term health effects of having ADHD and use of common ADHD medications are an understudied area. The research void is troubling as about 11 percent of children (4-17 years old) nationwide have been diagnosed with ADHD.
